About

Hi! My name's Chris Straughn; my last name is pronounced /stɻɔn/. I'm a librarian and linguist with a variety of other interests, including the Turkic languages, maps, the history of call numbers/library classifications, and bookbinding. Check out the Projects tab to learn more.

I have an Erdős number of 4. If anyone can get me a movie role, I'd love to have a Bacon number as well.

I created this page to provide some information about myself, to demonstrate my (limited) HTML, CSS, and PHP skills, and to host a few projects I have been working on.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at any of the links in the contacts section.

This page was coded by hand using HTML, CSS, PHP, and a little JavaScript. I learned much of my SQL and PHP from Murach Books.

The display fonts used in this page are from Google Fonts, with the exception of the main body font. For that, I employed Gentium Plus, an excellent multi-lingual font provided by SIL. The icon fonts were created using Fontastic, a free icon font generator.

I've been testing my site for accessibility using Wave Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool. If you have a website, I recommend using this to see if you have any elements that could make your site difficult to use.

That's my old cat in the photo. His name was Stereo and he was very loud.
